Young toddlers
Young toddlers (2-3 years old) are very sensitive and fragile but demonstrate rapid development of all skills: body, motor, cognitive, verbal, emotional and social.
Our first and foremost concern is for a child to develop a trusting relationship with the teacher that is responsible for them during school hours. Their bond is strengthened by the teacher taking care of the child’s biological needs and focusing on the emotional and bodily communication the child develops during this time of its life.
We make sure to maintain an environment full of love, tranquility and safety within which children can receive and process stimuli that help them develop their verbal, cognitive and emotional skills. Most importantly, children are encouraged to use their motor skills, socialize with their peers, practice their verbal skills and learn how to take care of their own needs.
Young toddlers learn primarily through sensorimotor activities, mainly through contact with their own body as well as their environment. Consequently, various sensorimotor activities throughout the day offer young toddlers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with new materials and have new experiences.
We take extra care of our children’s safety and hygiene and we make sure that each child eats, sleeps and plays whenever they need to.
